In Japan, cleansing your face is a two-step process. You cleanse your face once to start in order to get your makeup off, and then again to get any residual makeup as well as the other cleanser you just used. The first cleanser is usually an oil. This makes it easier to get off oil-based makeup. When you try to get oil-based makeup off with water, it’s not nearly as effective. But, after you’ve used the oil, you can use any cleanser to get the rest of your face clean. I tried a few different cleansing oils, both American and Japanese, but why stray from the original? I tried to find out what the best Japanese Cleansing Oil is.
On my search to find the best Japanese cleansing oil, I found a lot of winners. There were lots of oils that were able to effectively take my makeup off and leave my skin looking soft and makeup free. But there weren’t many that actually improved the appearance of my skin in general. But, I did find a few that did. And, a lot of them are affordable. I’m happy I made the switch from makeup remover wipes to cleansing oils. Here are my finalists in my search to find the best Japanese cleansing oil:
Best Japanese Cleansing Oil: DHC Cleansing Oil
The DHC Cleansing Oil is a classic. You’ll find it at the top of everyone’s list for the best Japanese cleansing oil, and there are reasons for that. It’s safe for all skin types, even sensitive, and it gets the job done. It’s made primarily with olive oil which is used in a lot of home skin care recipes. But, it’s improved. It’s a lot thicker than other cleansing oils, which is fantastic. It gets your makeup off faster and easier. And, by the time you’ve finished the rest of your skin care routine, your skin will look hydrated, soft, and most importantly, clean.
Best Japanese Cleansing Oil: Attenir Skin Clear Cleansing Oil
The Attenir Skin Clear Cleansing Oil won a couple of beauty awards for its makeup cleansing abilities. Its two main ingredients are rock rose oil and helichrysum oil. These oils are great for anti-aging. After I used this for a few weeks, my skin looked brighter and more radiant than it has in years. The main purpose of those ingredients is to remove dirt and makeup, and to get rid of dullness. It highly succeeded in both its targets.
Best Japanese Cleansing Oil: Shu Uemura Ulitm8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil
You’ve probably heard of Shu Uemura before. It’s a high-end product in America, but it’s a pretty normal product in Japan. This bottle contains 8 different botanical oils designed to cleanse and soften your skin. It gets rid of makeup and dirt quickly and easily. And, it’s like a conditioner for your skin. After a few weeks of using this one, I had smoother, softer, and more beautiful skin than I’ve seen for a while. If I had to pick a favorite of these three, it would have to be the Shu Uemura Ultim8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil.
