Skin care can be expensive. There are a million different products to try, and they’re all more expensive than the last. That’s why at home skin remedies can be not only helpful, but affordable. Many of them can be made using common household ingredients that you might already have. I started saving so much money when I started making my own face masks and treatments. And, my skin has never looked better. Plus, they’re super easy and last forever.

Another one of the benefits of using at home skin remedies is that you know exactly what’s going into them and on to your skin. I don’t know about you, but my skin breaks out at the simplest things. It hates fragrances and most synthetic ingredients. When I make my own skin remedies, I know exactly what’s going on, and I can rest comfortably, sheet mask on, knowing that I won’t wake up the next day with a new breakout. Here are just a few of my favorite at home skin remedies. I hope they work as well for you as they did for me:

At Home Skin Remedies: Turmeric Mask

There are only two ingredients you need for this mask: turmeric and flour. You take about ½ to 1 teaspoon of turmeric, mix it with four tablespoons of chickpea flour, and water until it makes a paste. Once or twice a week, put this on your face for about 15-20 minutes, then rinse it off. Turmeric is healthy for your body in general. It’ll erase damage from free radicals, and encourage your skin to produce more collagen. As a result, your skin will look radiant and younger.

At Home Skin Remedies: Avocado Honey Mask

This is perfect for those with dry skin, or those living in a dry climate. This super moisturizing mask is simple to make and delicious to eat. I’d recommend doing one or the other, not both. All you need for this recipe is three tablespoons of honey, a fourth of an avocado, and a tablespoon of honey. Throw them all in the blender until they’re well mixed. Put it on your skin for an hour and rinse it off with water. Your skin will look moisturized, and some fine lines and wrinkles will be filled in.

At Home Skin Remedies: Basil Toner

If you suffer from acne, this toner will do your skin wonders. And, if you want to learn about moisturizers to pair with your acne-prone skin, we have a guide for that, too. The two things you need for this are basil leaves and boiling water. That’s it. The first thing you do is crush up three tablespoons of dried basil leaves. Put them in the boiling water and wait for the water to cool. Once it does, separate the leaves and put the liquid in a spray bottle or other type of bottle. I find it easier to use a spray bottle when applying. Put it on your face after cleansing, and rub it in with a cotton pad, cotton ball, or your hands. It’ll get rid of any bacteria causing you acne, and it’ll improve circulation in your skin.
